ISO Rating: |

Quality of available fire protection is one of several factors considered by insurance companies in determining homeowners insurance rates. In assessing fire protection quality, insurance companies rely heavily on information provided by the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) which is the principal provider of rating and statistical information for the insurance industry in the United States. |

|
The ISO provides this information to insurance companies in the form of ISO ratings of fire departments around the country. Communities that have ISO-rated fire departments enjoy lower insurance rates than communities that don’t. The minimum facilities and practices required to receive a rating are: Organization, Membership, Training, Alarm Notification, Apparatus, and Apparatus Housing.
